What grampa and grandma didn’t know

In my last post I said we were headed for the city and would be gone a few days.

Unexpected Events

What we didn’t count on was being on an expressway and having the clutch stop working. Got to the side and ended up calling 911 to call a tow truck for us. The next day we went where we had the car towed to and they said the hose had developed a hole and it was an easy fix. The big problem was the replacement was a 2 day trip away.

So they gave us a courtesy car to use until ours was ready. That saved us a lot of money since we would have had to take taxi’s as we don’t really know the city well enough to rely on buses. Two extra nights in the motel with meals wasn’t that expensive but not having clothes for the extra days was annoying. I washed out the shirts so that was ok, but we went out and bought underwear and socks since we would eventually need them at home.

We hit the used book store we like and stocked up big time on books so we could have something to do while waiting in the motel room.
However, we couldn’t even shop much until we found out if the car would be ready for us by the weekend, if it wasn’t we were going to take the Greyhound home.

We had to call the man painting the house to tell him where the key was so he could go in and paint the rooms as well as feed the cats.
He is a very nice man so that worked out well.

So this experience has taught us to pack extra underclothes and maybe a shirt or two extra and do not count on everything going according to plan. Also make sure you pack your sense of humour. It will get you through a lot of stress.

Only stress now is getting my kitchen back into shape and the other two rooms so I can get a BBQ meal together for tonight when we invited the painter and his family over for dinner.
Wish me luck.

Have a good day
